When first arriving to Civita, or the view of it I was very disappointed because in the restaurant before hand we were able to see magnificent photos of what it looked like in the sunlight. I thought that the lookout spot was all I would see which was a view blinded by thick fog. But I couldn’t have prepared myself for what I would see next. While walking the bridge to Civita I couldn’t smell the thickness of the air as the fog shifted infront of us making the haze that stood before me just that much more real. Emerging from nothing was the path infront of me, making me feel as if I was one with the clouds walking through the sky, weightless and free. Details of the faceless hill started to reveal it’s beauty as I crept closer. Captivated by the view and the architecture I ascended the hill finding myself in a strange place. Civita felt as if I had an eerie welcome, a town full of life fading like the sun does. Who are you Civita? A town enjoyed by many and loved by few. I felt melancholy knowing you wouldn’t last. I finally started to turn and make my way back. As I pursued my descent the fog parted begging me to stay, and I did, for a bit longer I stood there capturing the view in my memory. Thank you Civita for the joyful experience.
